Several Shows

In addition to three Festivals and the Van Gogh show, I have a bunch of gallery shows in the next few months.

Gallery shows include:

"Unleashed" which is being held at Strathmore University - April 28 - June 23, 2012

"Extreme Pets" at the Arizona Museum for Youth in Mesa, AZ - May 25 thru Sept 9, 2012

"Artists of the Upstate" at Centre Stage in Greenville, SC - May 2, thru June 19, 2012

"Open Studios Retrospective" at Metropolitan Arts Council - May 2 thru June 19, 2012

There are a few others in the Fall that I will list later.

"Eastside 64", is a new gallery opening in Highlands, NC on April 14 (big party 1 to 5 pm).  I have about twenty pieces in the show.

Don't forget First Fridays at Art & Light Gallery.  I will have some new woodcuts hanging Thursday April 5th.

Blast from the Past

Well, the not too distant past.

I am getting two prints of this woodcut back from an arts center in Aiken, SC.

It is from the edition of twenty.  I have been sold out of this piece for about six months.

So, if you were wanting one and though it was too late, now is your chance.

They are 32" high x 24" wide (image size) and cost $600 each.

Oh, and I think American Folk Art in Asheville has one remaining also...

Big Proof of Small Town

This is a 36" x 48" woodcut proof (black ink on newsprint). 

It is the first woodcut I have tried at that size and the first proof off the new press.

Not sure if it is a strong enough image to pursue...

Cutting color blocks and spending the time printing it twenty times will take a couple of weeks,

not to mention about $500 dollars worth of paper and ink.

I can see two separate images that would be stronger if I ripped the block into two smaller pieces.

Any opinions?

New Year, New Press

This is my old press, the one that I built thirteen years ago.

I still plan to use it for most of my work.

This is my new press.  I bought it off ebay from a lady in Wisconsin.

I'll be able to print image sizes of 36" x 48".  Working on one right now...

It is a Conrad press.  The bed is 40 x 72. It weighs 2600 lbs.

I had to hire three people to help move it about three hundred feet

down the driveway, around the house, over about 40 feet of mulch,

Then I had to take out two big floor to ceiling windows to move it in the house.

The cost of freight and getting it into the house was almost as much

as I paid for the press itself.
